Participate in the national survey on cost of water. And win a book by noted Gandhian Dr Anupam Mishra.*

Why is it important that all citizens and NGOs participate in a national survey on cost of water ?
Water is a natural resource. Ideally it should be available free to all.
The government incurs infrastructure costs in bringing water to our houses and we therefore pay for water.

But do people in different cities pay different rates for the same volume of water ? Why ?
How much does water cost to people of India in the first place ?

India Water Portal is working with Rainwater Club to draw more attention to the pricing of water in towns and cities.

We invite you to participate in this national survey.

100 years of Rainfall, cloud cover, average temparature....for most of the districts of India. Free.
Meteorological data is essential for water resource planning and research. In India, this data is difficult to obtain for the average citizen. In this application, entire datasets for various meteorological indicators from 1901 to 2002 , for any part of India, is made available for users, in a simple format. We foresee that this data can be useful in making rainwater harvesting and water balance estimates, in various research areas, climate change adaptation studies and more. We also believe in the democratising effect of having this kind of data freely available to the general public.
