Introduction
Organisation database is a simple yet powerful tool that lets organisations across the country put themselves on an interactive map of India. Each point on the map represents an organisation working in the water sector and has some basic information about the organisation, like its contact information and area of work. By adding yourself to the map, you will make it easy for other organisations and individuals to locate you and contact you. You can also share details about your organisation's achievements, projects and other details. This tool can also be used for searching for organisations working in a particular sector in a specific area.
Data Sources
Organisation data listed in this tool has been collected both through primary and secondary sources.
Large chunk of the data listed, especially for organisations falling within the Cauvery basin has been collected through a primary survey conducted by Arghyam. Beginning with a secondary list, the teams were sent to physically visit the organisations and get the accurate information in a standard format from the representatives of the organisations. Data from eight districts of Karnataka was collected by a team from Arghyam. In Tamil Nadu, a group of eighteen doctoral and masters students from Bharathidasan University, Tirucharapalli collected the information in eleven districts of Tamil Nadu that fall within the Cauvery basin. Our partners like Samaj Pragati Sahyog, BIRD-K, Development Alternatives and AME Foundation helped us collect information about their partner organisations working closely with them in water sector. Some of the organisations listed in this data base are taken from Planning Commission lists of NGOs as well.
