It aims to inform, enlighten and suggest solutions to bring back the river Yamuna to a healthy and resilient state.
The Yamuna Jiye Abhiyaan is a consortium of organisation that aim to revive the river Yamuna through intensive information-based campaigning. The presentation begins with some basic information about the river, including a map and a description of its various stretches.
It then proceeds to list - with photographic evidence- the various threats to the river including:
The remedial actions implemented by various concerned agencies are enumerated, and the supreme court rulings explained.
The various encroachments are also listed. The presentation proves that the encroachments are of two types, jhuggi colonies and state sponsored construction such as the CWG village, and the metro station. However, in the various government campaigns, it is only the jhuggis that belong to the poor that are being 'cleared' while government 'development works' continue. The presentation questions the wisdom of hosting games and other functions at the cost of the environment.
This presentation ends with a list of measures on several fronts, immediate, short, and long term.
