Electronics City Industrial Association (ELCIA) was established in 1992. In 1997, the maintenance and upkeeping of Electronics City was handed over to ELCIA by the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (KEONICS), which handled the responsibility previously. Ever since then ELCIA has been actively protecting and promoting the interests of the industries in Electronics City.

The Government of Karnataka supported ELCIA to improve the condition of Hosur road, which is the only road that provides access to Electronics City. The association made sure that the water supply needs of the industries in the area were properly met, for which borewells were repaired and new water lines were laid in the area.

There are nearly about two hundred members working in ELCIA, including the lower staff taking care of industry interests. It is the only organization of its kind to engage the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to safe guard the Industrial Estate and Member companies.

ELCIA is also involved in a number community services:

  · Providing mid-day meals to government school children

  · Computer Education to government school students

  · Infrastructure development at government schools

  · Providing drinking water to the neighbouring villages of Electronics City

  · Providing benches and tables to government schools

  · Providing note books to government school children

  · Planting of saplings –providing green cover to E-City and villages

Mr. Thimmesh Sg., Administrative Officer with ELCIA mentioned a few things about the organization’s initiative for providing drinking water to villages near Electronics City. The community program has been providing free water to two villages around Electronics City, i.e. Doddathogur village and Konnappana Agrahara Village with the help of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), every day since 2008. Water is supplied to two overhead tanks in Doddathogur village which provide water to all the households connected to them.
