This report by Ministry of Mines spells out the key priorities that will enable transformation of the mining sector in India. Unlocking the potential will add 6-7 % to the growth of the Gross Domestic Product and create 13 to 15 million jobs through direct and indirect contribution by 2025.

The key priorities are as follows:

  • including enhancing resource and reserve base through exploration and international acquisition
  • reducing permit delays
  • putting in place core enablers (infrastructure, human capital, technology)
  • ensuring sustainable mining and sustainable development around mining
  • creating an information, education and communication strategy undertaking measures to ensure implementation
