The latest news indicates that the monsoons and the flood situation has receded in most parts of India except in the North East where Manipur valley continues to suffer from incessant rains and flooding with attempts being started at flood management. Rainfall and flooding earlier in the week from the South of India such as Karnataka and Kerala has gradually receded and attempts are being made in different parts of the country to assess and cope with the damage done by the rains and the floods. Reports inform that water levels in Indian reservoirs are up to 75 % in past week. At the same time, reports from Orissa indicate that a large number of villages are facing drought because of inadequate rains.
