After the World Bank’s Water Resource Strategy was created, the Bank’s water lending commitments have increased significantly, the quality of the water portfolio has been turned around, and the outcome project rating now outperforms the Bank average. The 2010 mid-cycle implementation progress report, Water for All in a Changing Climate, and the Sustainable Infrastructure Action Plan continue to guide the Bank’s strategy for managing water resources.
The Water Hackathon is a two-day marathon software coding event in multiple global locations bringing together software developers from all over to hack on real-world water problems. The event is to be simultaneously conducted in five other locations across the globe. The World Bank is partnering with the Indian Institute of Human Settlements (IIHS) and India Water Portal to organise and conduct the Water Hackathon in Bangalore for the South Asia region, where the aim is to develop software applications for mobile phones that might be useful for the water community and/or for the general public.
