Baitarani River Basin Project is a civil society initiative to proactively explore options for futuristic resources management in this river basin. It also attempts to blend concerns for environment with livelihood, goals of local with global development, issues of rights with market and focus of sustainability with equity.

Keeping the vulnerable livelihoods in different locations in the basin as the prime focus, this innovative basin project, aspires to address these multiple concerns and objectives through a collaborative and participatory action research framework with focus on ‘ research based information’. By enabling access to critical basin information, it aims to enhance the voice of basin stakeholders’ right from the community to the decision makers, in developing a vision and action paths for socially, economically and environmentally responsible basin resources utilization.

The project had collected a lot of information and data related to the Baitarani river basin in Orissa around the themes of Natural Resource Management, Hydrology, Rights and Governance and Livelihood.
