The Community Resource Person (CRP) will play a crucial role in implementing and promoting the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) by actively engaging with community members to foster sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. As a local ambassador for the project, the CRP will work closely with villagers, panchayat members, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and community ownership of JJM initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Community Mobilization and Awareness
Household Outreach: Conduct door-to-door visits to educate families on the importance of safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene.
Awareness Campaigns: Organize and lead community awareness activities, including water conservation, water-borne disease prevention, and clean sanitation practices.
Behaviour Change Promotion: Encourage safe water handling and storage practices within households.
Village Action Plan Support
Assistance in Plan Preparation: Assist the community, including Gram Panchayat (GP) members in preparing village-level water action plans aligned with JJM objectives.
Meeting Facilitation: Support and participate in Gram Sabha meetings to advocate for WASH-related decisions and activities.
Maintenance and Infrastructure Support
Infrastructure Monitoring: Regularly inspect local water sources, public water supply systems, and hand pumps, reporting non-functional units to the relevant authorities for timely repair.
Community Coordination for Maintenance: Encourage community members to participate in maintenance efforts, ensuring continued functionality of water and sanitation infrastructure.
Formation and Strengthening of Committees
VWSC Jal Samitees Support: Facilitate the formation of Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSC) and other relevant committees to promote local ownership and management of water resources.
Capacity Building: Assist in training VWSC members on their roles and responsibilities, helping them plan, manage, and monitor WASH activities in their villages.
Capacity Building and Training
Community Training: Organize workshops and training sessions on topics like water quality testing, sanitation practices, and hygiene promotion.
Women and Youth Engagement: Mobilize and train women and youth leaders to act as advocates for WASH practices, fostering a sense of community responsibility.
Record Keeping and Reporting
Data Collection and Reporting: Collect data on community needs, water and sanitation conditions, and progress on JJM activities, maintaining accurate records and reports for submission to the project team.
Feedback and Issue Resolution: Act as a bridge between the community and project team, communicating challenges, suggestions, and success stories to improve the project’s effectiveness.
Other Responsibilities
Additional Tasks: Undertake any other duties as needed to support the effective implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission and promote sustainable WASH practices.
Desired Skills And Qualifications
Education: Minimum high school diploma; additional qualifications in community development or WASH-related fields preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in community engagement or fieldwork in rural development, health, or WASH sectors is an advantage.
Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse community members.
Local Knowledge: Familiarity with local languages, culture, and social structures within the village.
